After a slow start the top seeded Louisville Cardinals found a rhythm in the second half. The final was 74-54 in favor of Louisville. After trailing by only 2 at halftime the Eagles of Morehead State scored only 21 points unable to match their energy from the first half. Leon Buchanan lead the Eagles with 17 points and two others had 14. Louisville was balanced as usual in the scoring column having 6 players scoring between 15 and 7 points for the game. Samardo Samuels paced the Cards with his 15 on 6-10 shooting.
Louisville will play the winner of the 8/9 match-up between Ohio State and Siena to be played in the night group.
